Before any construction project commences, three approvals are required in Kenya.
- NEMA
This is the National Environment Management; this is the organization in Kenya that ensures that during construction all the environmental factors are not interfered with. We ensure that before any construction project commences our clients obtains a nema certificate. To get this certificate, we submit both the structural and architectural drawing plans of the proposed development to the nema offices to confirm that all the regulations are observed. They ensure that all the surrounding is considered and protected by project. Some of the factors they consider includes, no explosives are near the site, the impact of the project to the air, the dumping from the site, the access to site etc.
- NCA
National construction authority is an organization that ensures that all construction projects in Kenya abides with the government rules and regulations of construction. All construction companies should be registered by the NCA. Jesam contractors is registered with the NCA to operate as contractors in Kenya and we ensure that we abide with the government construction rules and regulations. Before we execute any construction project, we ensure that the client obtain the NCA approvals to proceed with construction after confirming on the drawing plans we submit to them for approval that the proposed project has observed the rules. We also ensure that all skilled personnel to be involved in the project are registered with NCA and have an operating badge to work on site from NCA. Also ensures that safety on site is also observed as required e.g., by wearing PPE (personal Protection Equipment).
- City council
This is another arm of government in construction that ensures that the proposed structure development meets all the rules and regulations as set by the respective county government.
After the designing of the project is done, we ensure that we take the drawing plans to the county council offices for approval and stamping. At the city council they ensure that the proposed structure is elected at the appropriate position of the land and that it does not interfere in any way with the public amenities such as roads, airports, railways etc. it also ensures that the structure observes the rule of the number of floors as set by the particular county government.
